Frequently Asked Questions - Conference Participants

I want to participate in a conference for the first time. Will I get any assistance if I experience any problems?

  • Yes, there is a secretariat for every conference, the staff of which will assist you with any problems you might have. You may also contact a SCIEMCEE system representative directly using the problem reporting form. All queries and problems are always dealt with as soon as possible.

What technical equipment do I need to participate in a science conference?

  • The aim of these science conferences is primarily to present the results of science and research in text form, so no special technical equipment is required. In order to participate in a virtual science conference you generally need a standard internet connection and a valid email account.

Do I need to install any software to participate in a conference?

  • No. You do not need to install any SCIEMCEE system software to participate in a conference.

Can I participate in multiple conferences simultaneously?

  • Yes. After completing the registration form for any conference, a conference account is set up for each participant (login name and password), which may be used to log in to any other science conference in the SCIEMCEE system.

I don’t want to have a conference account set up. What is it for? Do I have to use it?

  • The conference account is set up when the participant first registers for any SCIEMCEE conference. This account remembers all your information, meaning you don’t have to enter it all again when registering for a different conference (your name, surname, contact details, workplace, invoicing details, etc.). You cannot participate in a conference without having set up a conference account.

Who is in charge of running a particular science conference?

  • Every conference has its own science committee consisting of experts and academics, which guarantees the quality and formal aspects of the science conference.

Who decides whether applications are accepted? How does the review process work?

  • The decision on whether or not to accept an application is always taken by the committee for that particular conference. The formalities are the same for all science conferences in the SCIEMCEE system; however, the conference committee decides on the scientific aspects of the conference (text quality requirements, text formatting, requirements for conference participants, further publication of texts, etc.). The texts from conference participants are reviewed (generally in two processes), while the science committee is responsible for these review processes. These processes vary for each conference.

I’m having problems registering for a conference. What should I do?

  • There is a secretariat for every conference. If you have a problem with one particular science conference, please contact the secretariat for that conference first. If there is no response to your reported problem (query), contact us directly using the contact form.

I have completed the registration form for a particular conference I want to participate in; however, I have not yet received the login codes. What should I do?

  • Contact the secretariat of the conference you want to participate in. If there is no response to your reported problem (query), contact us directly using the contact form.

Where and how are the texts from the science conferences published?

  • Conference proceedings are always issued at the end of each science conference; these proceedings contain all the texts from that conference. They are issued either by the conference committee (university, faculty, etc.) or the SCIEMCEE system. The conference committee decides whether the texts will then be offered to collaborating journals or will be further indexed in any way. The SCIEMCEE system also presents the proceedings of science conferences to the operators of citation databases (Web of Science, EBSCO, SCOPUS, etc.).

Are texts from science conferences included in citation databases?

  • The SCIEMCEE system presents the proceedings of science conferences to the operators of citation databases (Web of Science, EBSCO, SCOPUS, etc.), although the final decision is always down to the operator of the database in question (Thomson Reuters, EBSCO Publishing, Elsevier, etc.). Inclusion is therefore always independent of the quality of the conference itself.

Are scientific texts available anywhere outside the conference proceedings and citation databases?

  • Yes, the SCIEMCEE system supports Open Access and Open Science, allowing the general scientific community and the lay public to peruse conference texts. The texts from science conferences are also available in the SCIEMCEE conference library.

Do conference participants have to install special software to enter the online conference?

  • No. The software for participating in the online conference is a web application supported by common web browsers (IE, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.).

What is the structure of the software to run the online conference?

  • The online conference runs in the following software environments: 1. CentOS 64-bit (Community ENTerprise Operating System) - operating system is a free Linux distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, 2. Apache Tomcat - web server including a Java-based servlet container, 3. DB2 - relational database management systém

What computer systems are the online conferences operated on?

  • Online conferences are operated on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) using Citrix XenServer visualization technology. VPS is configured for DELL M1000e Blade servers and DELL PowerVault MD3200i disk arrays.

Is the protection of personal information assured?

  • Yes, it is. All communication is encrypted with a high degree of security (128 bit key) via SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate CA RapidSSL, GeoTrust, Inc.

What are the requirements for the PC of the online conference participant?

  • Minimum PC configuration for running online conferences: 32-bit or 64-bit processor running at 1GHz or higher, 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit), 256MB of free hard disk space, Windows operating system (32 or 64 bit), access to the Internet
