The analysis of the data on the number of employed population in Ukraine by the
types of economic activity confirms the negative tendency of employment reduction in
all without exception sectors of the economy in Ukraine (Fig. 1).
It should be noted that such sectors as retail and wholesale trade, repair of motor
vehicles and motorcycles, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and industry have
traditionally the biggest shares in the number of employees by sectors, what in 2017
amounted to 21.8%, 17.7% and 15.1% relatively (Fig. 1.).

At the same time agriculture and trade are not only confidently keep their
positions, but strengthen them, meanwhile the share of industry demonstrates a steady
downward trend. If the above-mentioned sectors in 2017 provided employment for
54.7%, then the education sector accounted for only 8.8% of all employed. In 2017 in
comparison to 2012 the share of employed also increased in such sectors as information
and telecommunication, public administration and defense, compulsory medical
insurance, healthcare and social assistance.
During the analyzed period the share of the following sectors remained almost
unchanged, namely: transport, warehousing, post and delivery services, real estate
transactions, temporary accommodation and catering, professional scientific and
technical activity, administrative and supplementary service activity, art, sport,
