The biomass yield of Giant Miscanthus depending on planting time period
and rhizomes’ covering depth. The main indicator of Giant Miscanthus in terms of
economic and valuable features as a biomass is its yield. However, the yield of Giant
Miscanthus plants depends on planting time, which is accompanied by the consumption
of organic matters and covering depth of rhizomes, as planting material. The final yield
can depend on the growth of plants in accordance with the time period of planting
associated with the redistribution of assimilates for formation and development of the
plant.

After the analysis of Giant Miscanthus's yields over the years of research and the
respective variants, it was noted that the maximum yields as per planting time were
typical for the first time period of planting (17.3-19.3 t/ ha). As per covering depth, the
variant with 9 cm showed maximum yield of 19.3 t/ ha, which is somewhat more than
for covering depths of 12 cm and 6 cm. The studied second time period performed a
lower yield, which amounted to 18.0 t/ ha for the variant with covering depth of 9 cm,
while even less yield – 16.6 t/ ha – was noted during the second time period with
covering depth of 12 cm and then lesser during the given planting period – 17, 0 t/ ha
– for the covering depth of 6 cm. The yield of the third planting time period (compared
with the previous analyzed variants under research) was marked by a smaller indicator's
value. This can be proved by the indicator's value of the variant with covering depth of
9 cm, whose yield amounted to 16.3 t/ ha. At the same time the yield of the third
planting time period for the variants of covering depth of 12 and 9 cm received almost
equal numbers and made up about 15.0 t/ ha. This is also due to climatic conditions
and reduced moisture content starting since planting time.
