This is a very complex and broad subject of criminology. Also, it is believed that a
specialist in criminalistics knows criminal law, process, and legal proceedings at a high
professional level, taking into account changes in the current legislation. This person
is knowledgeable in the field of natural sciences and forensic examinations. A
professor of criminalistics should read all the course or only its sections (forensic
technique, tactics or methodology) "[4, p. 53].
In our opinion, a professor of forensic science is, undoubtedly, a person who,
firstly, possesses theoretical knowledge about forensic science and, secondly, has some
experience of practical work in the field of counteracting crime. If there is at least one
of the elements of the formula for the professionalism of a professor of criminology,
then this is either a scientist of a research laboratory or a law enforcement officer or
court judge. A teacher who does not understand the problems of practice and does not
have professional experience in dealing with them is a theoretician who in no way helps
to solve the strategic tasks of combating crime, but only develops students 'and
listeners' skills in effective compilation of tests and exams.
On the other hand, a teacher with only practical experience is, for the most part, a
person who cannot think creatively and initiative, does not know the theoretical basis
of criminology science, without which the optimization of his discipline is not possible
at all. He does not have the professional qualities of a teacher and, unfortunately, for
the most part, or already professionally deformed, "burned" man, or, conversely, an
infinitely self-confident in his own right a person who can no longer improve and study.
In fact, as evidenced by the history of criminology, there are vivid examples of
the successful work of teachers who have large, or, conversely, the minimum
experience of practical work at the practice of counteracting crime. Nevertheless, we
are sure that the aforementioned "truncated" types of criminology teacher are in most
cases a certain danger. Yes, they are precisely what leads to a gap between theory and
practice, creates a myth about the failure of science, and in general its activities actually
disbalance the entire criminal law mechanism of the state instead of contributing to the
improvement of the educational process and the acquisition of specific forensic
knowledge from students, cadets, listeners. Therefore, in our opinion, a teacher of
criminology, who has his own practical experience, must have a theoretical material of
science, be guided in the dynamic processes of its development and know the current
problems of practical activity. In addition, he should clearly understand the essence
and features of teaching activity as such. According to the results of the analysis of
questionnaires and interviews, practitioners believe that the professor of criminalistics
should: be able to answer any practical questions on the topic of the training course
(100%), be able to establish psychological contact with the audience (95%), to know
the forensic theory ( 83%), have experience of practical work (75%), use examples
from the current practice of investigation and disclosure of crimes (65%), know the
