questioning process. Among the total number of respondents who questioned the
prospects of the RM as a means of study, 32% came to the conclusion that these means
of learning are a future when the minimum of scientifically objective information in
the RM will receive substantial support through the provision of teachers and students
a set of books, united by a single scientific and methodical idea. Each set may consist
of textbooks and handouts. Keeping continuity, they will complement each other.
Today, this approach requires precisely because the volume of basic textbooks will be
reduced, only the explanatory function will remain for them, and the reproductive and
creative level will be taken by the teacher and the student, based on educational and
cognitive activity on the content of the handouts as a means of individualization and
activation of cognitive activity schoolchildren.
In our opinion, the main disadvantage of the existing definitions of the term
"handout material" is that the authors substantiate the essence of the concept rather
superficially. So, V. Kohan reduces the meaning of the concept to lessons plans, which
does not correspond to reality; E. Popova remains unanswered question about the issue
of distribution material (only for individual forms of work, or for collective and
frontal); E. Klimov equates the concept of "handout" and "cards". Such approaches of
scientists and practitioners are explained by the fact that the use of the handout as a
means of training has not yet been investigated in pedagogical science and has not
received sufficient substantiation. Psychological and pedagogical researches confirm
that a high level of activity can only be achieved when mental activity of students is
not so much focused on the assimilation and reproduction of new material, as on
independent acquisition of knowledge. As a means of training, the handout, apart from
the educational, educational and developmental, perform Informative and illustrative,
systematizing functions, the function of control and self-control. The analysis of
scientific literature on the problem under study gives the right to call the informative
and illustrative function as the basis of the educational function, since the informative
material of the handout is the primary source educational information. Educational
information in the handout is presented in various forms: a brief summary of the topic
being studied; reference abstract in theses; a set of questions for studying a new topic
and reproducing it reproduction; task for observation; a set of reproductive and
problematic issues; integrated material, the main purpose of which is to bring students
closer to the scientific understanding of natural processes; sights on skills to analyze,
systematize their knowledge; additional information for expanding the horizons. The
information provided in concise form is intended for both oral and written tasks of
various types of complexity. On the one hand, it is accessible on the one hand, and on
the other hand, it creates the conditions for independent acquisition of knowledge,
inducing students to critical thinking, which corresponds to a new paradigm of
