The basis of family disadvantages is, for the most part, material difficulties;
alcoholism, drunkenness; unemployment of parents; difficulties of adolescent children;
disability; conflict between family members; various types of violence. The level of
support and upbringing of children in such families does not meet the vital
requirements, which in turn affects their development and behavior.
In order to provide timely assistance to families who have fallen into difficult
living conditions and unable to overcome them individually, social workers work
weekly to visit families of the above category and to assess the needs of families, as a
result of which families with children have social services.
It is advisable for parents (including women) to constantly carry out informational
and explanatory work on the prevention of alcohol using, healthy lifestyle, prevention
of violence in families, the fulfillment of proper parental responsibilities, compliance
with sanitary and hygienic living conditions, rational use of state social assistance for
children, etc.
In order to provide quality social services to women, the issue of preparing future
social workers in this regard is important. In particular, attention is needed to the
formation of professional competencies regarding the level of awareness of student
youth about the concept of gender, the social problems of women and their ways of
resolving.
In this context, a study was conducted on the basis of the Uman State Pedagogical
University named after Pavlo Tychyna among students studying in the specialty
"Social Work".
Students were offered a questionnaire "What I know about women's problems"
without a preliminary conversation, focusing only on their knowledge.
The study was attended by 35 students: 18 students of the fourth year of the
specialty and 17 students of the first year. The number of completed questionnaires by
gender also varied and dominated by the interest in the problem - the female sex, which
was almost two-thirds of the respondents.
A simple question from the questionnaire "Who is a woman for you?" showed a
different attitude towards the representatives of this gender on the part of boys and
girls. So the boys of the first year defined a woman without obsessive gender stamps,
which they have the opportunity to observe in their everyday lives (Bohdan K.: "A
woman is a mother, a worker"), boys of the fourth year - on the contrary, they made
their responses, taking into account the main gender characteristics both sexes, hinting
at their priority in physical development (Rustam D. "Woman is a weak sex", Nikolai
Zh .: "Woman is a fragile woman of the kind, tender", Dmitry R.: "A woman is a
guardian of the family, an important component of society ").
Girls, regardless of age, answered as real representatives of this gender, taking
into account gender components (Vladislav E.: "Woman is the beginning of a new life,"
