The significant level of variability of the economic characteristics in the studied
species and individual samples of vigna indicates a significant genetic heterogeneity of
the study collection and the plasticity of the genotypes to the action of the
environmental factors.
With the use of the Shannon variety index and the Piel equation index, a high level
of total phenotypic variability of the vigna collection is found on the population and
species levels (H’ = 0.40-0.67, H’max = 1.19). At the same time, the local populations
were more heterogeneous than the vigna varieties.
The most promising for breeding are the forms with a high level of genetic
variability, since in such populations it is possible to carry out an effective selection on
any of the studied features. The highest level of genetic variability among the studied
vigna samples was characterized by populations UKR001:00040, UD1000044,
UD1000019, UD1000005, UKR001:00048.
Consequently, based on the morphometric features of the Vigna Savi gene pool
samples were found that are of practical interest to create the source material. The
integrated approach to biometric processing of the experimental data allowed to
optimize the selection criteria in vigna breeding. The features of the morphological
characters and interphase periods of vigna samples are revealed, which allows, at
introduction, to select plants adapted to the conditions of the Eastern forest-steppe of
Ukraine.
