Research results. Length frequency and weight composition are important
characteristics of fish quality, which depends on its species, age, sex, physical
condition, capturing time and place, and fish-farming technology, terms and storage
conditions.
Length frequency and weight composition of silver carps of autumn capturing
with weight 2.25 to 3.45 kg has been studied. The silver carps were fed with
phytoplankton; no additional feeding stuff was provided to them. The study results are
shown in Fig. 1–3.
Figure 1. Dependence of the length of different body parts on the weight of
bighead
From the graphs shown in Fig. 1 it is evident that with the increase in the weight
of fish, the absolute and industrial length of fish, the length of the head and tail fin, the
height and thickness of fish increase. The average total length of silver carps with
weights of 2.25-3.45 kg is 62.4 cm, the average industrial length of the fish is 50.3 cm,
the length of the head is 15.4 cm, the length of the tail fin is 12.4 cm, the thickness of
fish is 9.7 cm, height of fish is 18.4 cm.
Dependence of the yield of different body parts of bigheads on the weight of fish
is shown in Fig. 2 and 3.
It is evident from the graphs shown in Fig. 2 and 3 that the weight of skin, bones
and umbles increases with the increase in the weight of bigheads due to the reduction
of the weight of the head and fish flesh (fillets without skin).
