There are also certified processing enterprises in Ukraine, 50 importers and 30
exporters of organic raw materials and foodstuffs. There are 485 certified organic
farms, and the total area of certified organic agricultural land is 441,200 ha in 2018,
already [6].
Most Ukrainian organic farms are located in Odessa, Kherson, Kyiv, Poltava,
Vinnytsia, Transcarpathian, Lviv, Ternopil, Zhytomyr regions. Ukrainian certified
organic farms - of varying sizes - range from several hectares, as in most European
countries, to several thousand hectares of arable land.
Significant growth rates have been observed over recent years. This is largely
contributed by the active state policy on the development of the organic sector aimed
at improving the regulatory environment and the formation of institutional,
organizational, economic, scientific, methodological, advisory and educational
support. For example, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine developed
three policy documents aimed at supporting organic agriculture, namely, the Strategy
for Agrarian Sector Development "3 + 5" [7], the Integrated Strategy for the
Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas in Ukraine for 2015-2020 [8] and the
Strategy for improving the management mechanism in the field of use and protection
of agricultural land of state-owned property and disposal [9].
Today, the territorial departments of the State Audit Office conduct an audit of
agricultural land parcels of state owned property suitable for organic production. As a
