In 2017, about 170 thousand tons of grain crops and peas were exported from
Ukraine, with a mark on their organic origin, which significantly exceeded the results
of 2016 (150 thousand tons) and 2015 (90 thousand tons). As in the export of traditional
grain crops from Ukraine, organic wheat and corn prevail in deliveries to foreign
markets. For the analyzed 3 years, the share of wheat in the total exports of organic
grains decreased from 61% in 2015 to 38% in 2017, corn - increased from 37% to 49%
and in the tonnage increased exports of most crops. The main regions of sales of these
products in the years 2015-2017 were the EU countries - 93-95% of total exports. The
traditional importers of Ukrainian organic grain are the Netherlands and the United
Kingdom, the total share of these countries in the overall structure of Ukrainian exports
of these products was 61%, while in 2016, this figure was 57%. As well as Switzerland
- about 5% annually [17].
Another promising crop in organic farming is flax production. Seeds and oil of
flax have a huge demand as a natural dietary supplement in a healthy diet, used in the
pharmaceutical, baking and cosmetic industries, and the culture itself - in the
production of natural fabrics. The culture is highly profitable - the cost of realizing 1
ton of organic flax seed is three times higher than of organic wheat. Therefore, organic
farms with specialization in flax growing have great perspectives to be economically
sustainable and highly profitable.
In the wake of 2017, Ukraine exported 56.9 thousand tons of flax seeds worth $
19.4 million. Such indicators are 1.3 times higher than the result of 2016, when farmers
sent 44 thousand tons of flax seeds to foreign markets at $ 15, 3 million. In addition,
Ukraine exported significant volumes of flaxseed to Poland (16.8%, 3.3 million
dollars) and Turkey (8.1%, 1.6 million dollars) [18].
For the first time in Ukraine began to grow organic technical non-narcotic hound
seeds. Today, hemp products exceed tens of thousands of items for the manufacture of
which fibers, ostriches, seeds are used. Surprisingly, during the industrial boom and
the energy crisis, the demand for products from mountain ash has not decreased, but
has increased, in particular, in light industry, construction and food industry, the
manufacture of medicines, etc. As shown by the experience of agrarian enterprises
Kravets in Vinnitsa region, their profitability twice as much as the grain and oil crops
traditionally used in Ukraine, and there are few competitors on this highly profitable
market. In its three-year history, the company managed to independently establish
export of finished grain to Europe. Also signed a contract for $ 0.5 million for the
supply of high-quality seeds of hemp to Kazakhstan. Organic community in this regard
may develop quite rapidly, including in the direction of high seed production.
Over the past year, many grain producers have begun to realize that diversification
of production is needed, since a hectare can earn much more than intensive cultivation,
including niche crops such as fruits and berries. Although domestic demand for such
