institutional changes are coordinated with each other and aimed at improving the
efficiency level of the current activities of the enterprise, meeting its needs and
achieving strategic goals in harmony with the environment [9]. In official documents,
the most common definition is the one the World Bank provides, according to which
sustainable development is “managing the total capital of a society in favor of
preserving and multiplying human opportunities”, and in the World Conservation
Strategy, sustainable development is “a development that provides a real improving to
the quality of life of people and at the same time preserving the natural diversity of the
Earth” [11].
So today, when so many approaches to the definition of the essence of the
“sustainable development” term are developed, the idea of academician N.N. Moiseev,
Vernadskyi's doctrine follower, is relevant, he notes: “it is considered vital to explain
the meaning of this term, to free it from political layers and to provide it with content,
that corresponds to the scientific concept of the present stage of the interdependence of
nature and society ... It should not be about replacing the term, that already came into
use, but about filling the concept of “sustainable development” with monotonous
scientifically grounded content and its adaptation to the modern scientific worldview.
In this I see not only a methodological but also a purely pragmatic sense, since this will

[12]. We believe that the justification of the imperative of management in the concept
of sustainable development, both theoretically and practically, is able to make
significant additions to the current provisions of the sustainable development concept,
and in a practical context – to determine the role of the management component in it.
Consequently, the relevance of the research topic is determined by the insufficient
theoretical and methodological substantiation of the role and importance of the
management factor in the modern model of sustainable development for equally
environmental, social and economic systems that are under conditions of permanent
transformation and permanent institutional changes. Now in the world this is due to the
formation of a digital model of the economy, and in Ukraine, in addition, also the
reformational processes of integration and decentralization. This requires additional
research to further develop the methodology of sustainable development in terms of
concretizing its components, in particular the management one.
The purpose of the study is to define and justify the imperative of the
“management” institute in the concept of sustainable development in the context of
achieving the sustainable development goals in a globalized world and to reveal the
specifics of its application in accordance with the Ukrainian conditions associated with
the implementation of reforms.
The role of the “management” component in the concept of sustainable
development. The fact, recognized both by scientists and practitioners, is that the main
