PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE MARKET OF ORGANIC
OAT FLAKES AND STUDY OF THEIR QUALITY
Introduction. The organic production is gaining popularity in the world, because
now more and more attention is paid to the restoration of soils affected by excessive
application of agrochemicals and chemical fertilizers, as well as to obtainment of food
products that are safe for humans. There is evidence that the daily consumption of
organic food prevents the ingestion of residues of 6-12 different synthetic pesticides,
which have a negative impact on health and are contained in traditional products. The
organic milk contains 50 % more useful ω-3 fatty acids and bread made from organic
ingredients contains 2-3 times more substances, which are useful for human. The
organic farms generate 30% less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional farms
[1].
European Union countries have special regulations developed and implemented:
EU Council Regulation No. 834 “On organic production and labeling of organic
products” [2] and EU Council Regulation “Detailed rules concerning organic
production, labeling and control for implementation” No. 889/2008 [3], they contain
the basic requirements to the process of production of agricultural products, their
processing and production of food products, as well as identification features of organic
products and features of its labeling and quality control.
In Ukraine the following legislation is valid: the Law of Ukraine “On production
and turnover of organic agricultural products and raw materials” [4] and the Resolution
of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On approval of Detailed rules of production of
organic products (raw materials) of plant origin” No. 587 d.d. 31.08.2016 [3].
According to the Ukrainian legislation, the production of organic products (raw
materials) is the production activity of individuals or legal entities (including

modified organisms (GMOs), preservation agents and the like are not used; but
methods, principles and rules, which ensure obtainment of natural (environmentally
