friendly) products, as well as the preservation and restoration of natural resources, are
used at all stages of production (cultivation, processing) [4].
The production of organic products and/or raw materials allows the usage of only
those methods that:
1) exclude the use of GMOs, GMO derivatives and products made of GMOs as
food, feed, technological additives, compounds for plant protection and soil
improvement, fertilizers, seeds, planting material of vegetative origin, microorganisms
and animals;
2) exclude the use of chemically synthesized substances, preservation agents,
synthesized (artificial) colorant, hormones, antibiotics, aromatizing agent, stabilizers,
flavor enhancers, growth stimulants;
3) exclude the use of ionizing radiation for the processing of organic raw materials
or feed used in the production of organic products;
4) exclude hydroponic production;
5) use living organisms and mechanical production methods;
6) conduct the nutrition of plants primarily through the soil ecosystem;
7) are based on risk assessment and use preventive measures [4].
The assessment of the prospects for development of the market of organic oat
flakes. The recent studies conducted by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture
(FiBL) and the international division of the International Federation of Organic
Agricultural Movements – Organics International (IFOAM – Organics International)
demonstrate positive trends in the development of the world organic market (Table 1):
−
consumer demand for organic products is growing;
−
more farmers grow organic products;
−
more lands are certified as organic;
−
178 countries report data on activities in the field of organic agriculture.
The data contained in Table 1 show that the world market for organic products
continues to grow. Ecovia Intelligence, the company, which conducts marketing
research, estimates the turnover of the world market of organic food in amount of 89.7
billion USD in 2016 (more than 80 billion Euros). USA is a leader, having a turnover
of 38.9 billion Euros, followed by Germany (9.5 billion Euros), France (6.7 billion
Euros) and China (5.9 billion Euros). Switzerland has the highest per capita
expenditure (274 Euros) and Denmark has the highest share of organic products at the
food market (9.7 per cent). There are almost three million producers in the world, the
largest number of which is concentrated in India (835200), followed by Uganda
(210352) and Mexico (210000).
The countries with the largest share of organic land in total area of agricultural
land are Liechtenstein (37.7%), French Polynesia (31.3%) and Samoa (22.4 %). The
new record is that 15 countries have a share of organic lands of 10 % or more.
