Ukraine has a significant potential for the production of organic agricultural
products, its export, consumption at the domestic market and has also achieved some
results in the development of its own organic production. Thus, the official statistics of
IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements – Organics
International) confirm that 31 farms were registered with “organic” status in Ukraine
in 2002, in 2016 there were 294 of such farms, and the total area of certified organic
agricultural land was 381,2 thousand. ha (0.9% of the total area of agricultural land).
Also 550 thousand hectares of wild-growing lands are certified in Ukraine. During the
last five years alone, the total area of organic agricultural land in Ukraine has increased
by 1.54 times. According to the total area of agricultural land certified as organic,
Ukraine takes 11th place among European countries and 20
th
one in the world. At this,
almost half of these lands are used for grain cultivation (45.4 %) (8th place among the
countries leading in the sphere of production of organic products in the world) [6].
The researches of the Federation of Organic Movement of Ukraine show that the
modern domestic consumer market of organic products in Ukraine began to develop
since the early 2000s and in 2016 amounted to 21.2 million Euros. The growth rate of
