The artist conducts experiments with norms and values that already exist in
society and also with completely new. In his multi-genre works, the artist creates and
demonstrates his own reality with a pronounced emotional subtext for various kinds of
objects, phenomena, moral and ethical values. First of all it is a simulation of space and
time in various life situations and images such as "Dialogue", "Loneliness", " A woman
in the interior", series "A man and bird", mythological transformations - "The Nest of
the Snake", series "The World of Myths", an unexpected comparison of certain
moments of life and their sensual understanding in the works "Spring", "Muse",
"Scream" [2; 4].
The artist carries out his reflections and fixes them in spatial and temporal
coordinates, which performs well on the contrasts of colored planes, separated by a
mostly vertical thickened line. These vertical stripes of orange-void, olive-green,
restrained blue cross through the composition of the work, dissociating it with plastic
language. They conditionally divide the world into "their" and "extraneous", to
"individual" and "general", to "opportunity" and "loss" to "reality" and "illusion". In
certain places, such stripes can be broken, and then the worlds become unsteady, their
contours are uncertain and spectral. A man is interpreted by the artist as an imperfect
being, who is constantly in a state of uncertainty and has many temptations. However,
this person with a sense of opportunity, still has a chance for self-improvement and
self-purification, although he is in a state of permanent creation.
A series of paintings on glass named "Dialogue" can be demonstrative in this
regard. Mykhailo Selezinka tries to explain the processes of the surrounding reality,
the various life situations that come up between the representatives of the opposite
sexes, stimulating the development of multidimensional ideas about priorities, the
goals of interactions and initiates the emergence of polarity methods, means, strategies
for their implementation. Modeling these variations on the plane of the glass led to the
emergence of a number of works with original compositional and coloristic solutions.
The model of reality cognition in the postmodern world is a continuous variation in
which boundless and constant mobility is sublimated in space and time. The essence
of our era lies in the transition from being in time to being as time. The semantic context
of the works of Mykhailo Selezinka is not tied to specific time and spatial
characteristics. He is ambiguous and involves a plurality of readings. He can be
interpreted both from the standpoint of the present and the future. "Determination" is
another important aspect of the artist's work. Pictures do not have a specific binding to
the scene. This peculiar universe, the artist`s postmodernist thinking, goes to the
knowledge of the eternal, spiritual essence, but at the same time does not deprive him
of the ability to protect a unique, individual.
In this case, it is a question of signs-symbols that are saturated works of the artist.
