METHODICAL SUPPORT OF MONITORING THE DEVELOPMENT OF
REGIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE REGIONAL INFORMATION
MANAGEMENT IN UKRAINE
Introduction. Regional studies have recently acquired particular relevance in
connection with the deepening of imbalances and contradictions between individual
regions of the country. Major external challenges, social consequences of a significant
differentiation of economic development and imperfect regional policy create socio-
political conflicts and form threats to the security and integrity of the state. Insufficient
effectiveness of the policy is often associated with the lack of reliable information,
analytical methods and tools necessary for decision-making [1, p. 41]. An effective
solution to the problem of providing information needed to support state socio-
economic policies both in individual regions and for the formation of regional policies
at the national level is possible only if the modern means and technologies of
information management are widely used.
Information and analytical activity is a type of management activity at any level -
at the level of enterprises / organizations (as well as at the level of their various
divisions), and at the level of management (administration) of individual territories
(cities, regions, etc.). The overwhelming majority of theorists and practitioners in the
field of management believe that the allocation of information management (as a
special field or area of management) is due precisely to the increasing role and
importance of the information and analytical component in management activities in
modern conditions, as well as the growing importance of effective information support
for the management process. Now the definition of the content of the concept of
“information management” in the context of enterprise / organization management in
the scientific literature is given sufficient attention.
In various sources, sometimes contradictory definitions of information
management are given, but in the end they all boil down to the fact that the information
management of an enterprise / organization is management: the information unit
(computer or information technology division) of an enterprise / organization;
