the same, information; staff engaged in the field of information [2, p. 14].
However, the sphere of regional information management, in particular, the
methodological support of such an important component of it as an assessment
(episodic analysis of qualitative and quantitative indicators) and monitoring
(systematic tracking of these indicators) of regional development, remains unexplored.
The purpose of this research is to study the status and search for ways to improve
the methodological support for monitoring regional development for the purposes of
regional information management in Ukraine.
Research results. The status of methodological support for regional
development of monitoring in Ukraine
In modern Ukraine, the methodological support for assessing regional
development and monitoring the development of regions for the purposes of regional
information management consists of several developed and used methods. Techniques
are defined and enshrined in the relevant government regulations. Now developed and
applied methodologies for assessing regional development consist of: methods for
assessing the effectiveness of regional policy, methods for calculating regional
competitiveness indices, methods for determining regional human development
indices. Evaluation of regional development, monitoring the development of regions
in Ukraine according to certain methods are now carried out and monitored by the State
Statistics Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of
Ukraine, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and
Communal Services of Ukraine. Let’s consider the features of methods for assessing
and monitoring the development of regions used by these institutions.
The State Statistics Service of Ukraine (hereinafter - the State Statistics Service)
annually publishes the statistical yearbook “Regions of Ukraine” and monthly prepares
and publishes statistical bulletins “Social and economic situation of the region” (for
each region separately) [3], which contain indicators calculated by State Statistics
Service. Methods for calculating indicators are developed and approved by the relevant
orders of the State Statistics Committee in accordance with the current legislation of
Ukraine on state statistics, current methodological regulations on statistics [4]. In the
statistical yearbook "Regions of Ukraine" the State Statistics Service provides
information on the results of state statistical observations, in particular, indicators by
region for the main types of economic activity, types of products, organizational forms,
etc. [5; 6]. Absolute values of indicators of regions, their dynamics (indexes of
indicators) and structure (indicators of the share of regions in national indicators) are
grouped into the following sections (areas): main characteristics of regions, population
and migration, labour market, education, incomes and living conditions, health care "
