Continuing to research the possibilities of improving the procedure and methods 

of monitoring the development of regions, we offer our own solution. Generalizing 
indicator (synthetic index of regional development) and its components, in our opinion, 
can be calculated based on the following sub-indices: regional competitiveness index, 
regional human development index, knowledge economy index.
