communicative approach), S. Nikolaeva (the content of teaching foreign languages,
implementation of communicative technology in a secondary school, individualization
of teaching foreign languages etc).
The main objective of this paper is to examine the nature of activating and
developing effects of foreign languages on the personal and professional development
of students, majoring in Tourism and Economics in the process of training skills of
effective professional communication, and to determine the didactic approaches to the
implementation of these factors in professionally oriented foreign language classes.
The methodological basis of the research consists of the principles of the
psychological and pedagogical science about the essence of the personality and the
laws of its formation; about cognition as an active reflective and transformative activity
of man in the process of developing his professional culture; about the role of language
in the processes of cognition; the psychological mechanisms underlying the
development and consolidation of complex communicative skills and abilities, the
structure of the human motivational sphere, the driving forces and means of their
regulation during teaching foreign languages.
We think that it is scientifically grounded to study this problem in the context of
the professional orientation of teaching foreign languages, which greatly enhances the
motivation of students' educational and cognitive activity, improves their knowledge
of the language, and provides the appropriate quality of training future specialists in
tourism and economics.
The need for forming the competence of effective professional communication
when teaching professionally oriented foreign languages is determined by the priorities
of information society, in particular in the tourism and economic sphere, aimed at cross
cultural communication, whose success or failure is directly affected by such factors
as professionalism, professional competitiveness, personal and professional fulfillment
of modern specialists, foreign languages having become an integral part of all these
processes. Considering this issue in such aspects, in our opinion, provides the scientific
novelty of this paper.
Presentation of the main research material. The effectiveness of
communication ̶ is such a "final product", which is based on the theory of language
culture, that is, such a set and such organization of linguistic means, which, in a certain
communication situation, while respecting modern linguistic norms and
communication ethics, can provide the greatest effect in carrying out communicative
tasks. Compliance with the linguistic norm involves the use of a set of linguistic means
that correspond to the system of language and are perceived by its carriers as an
example of social communication. The ethics of communication or communicative
etiquette is concerned with common rules of conduct in people’s communication
