PLANNING THE NEEDS AND INVENTORY OF PERSONAL
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERS
Introduction. In the current realities of industrial activities in organizations and
enterprises, the importance of the need for the use of new certified sets of special
clothing, special footwear and other personal protective equipment increases. In this
case, the urgent problems that need solving are the inventory of such clothes and the
approaches to assessing the workers’ need to be provided with overalls.
In the course of utilizing PPE, considerable requirements for quality, safety,
reduction of economic load in monetary equivalent are proposed, in the absence of
unambiguous data, with the use of different criteria for the PPE amount. Although the
regulations strictly monitor the minimum required amount of PPE provision for
workers, there exist a significant variation in real production situations in the range
from overexpenditure to shortage.
The analysis of the current state of special clothing inventory shows that there is
no scientific consideration of the inventory issues for hazardous and harmful factors in
the light of changes in the use of new techniques and equipment. The facts of workers’
vacations, reduction of workplaces and dismissal of workers, an increase in the number
of jobs with dangerous and harmful working conditions, violation of regulations for
performing activities with the increased danger in accordance with work permits, as
well as the gross errors in the issuing of internal orders responsible for the provision
and inventory of overalls, all lead to the lack of operational planning of the required
amount of special clothing.
Modern operating conditions of organizations are characterized by a fairly wide
system of branches located on sufficient areas, by the need for exploitation of a
sufficient amount of various equipment, the use of appropriate tools for the
implementation of production processes during construction and operation of e.g.,
antenna-mast structures (towers of cellular, radio relay communication, television and
radio transmitting towers, communication mast, etc.).
In the issue of PPE provision at industrial enterprises, there are many problems
both of external (due to objective factors) and internal nature. The existing legislative
