The presence and content of a large number of research on the development of
interregional economic cooperation between Ukraine and neighboring countries
testifies not only to the scientific interest in the problems of managing the country's
economic development by intensifying interaction with foreign partner countries, but
also about the tangible need of economic entities in using scientific results in practice.
Noting the significant contribution of scientists to the disclosure of the issues
raised in the article, it should be noted that research on the preconditions for the
intensification of interregional economic cooperation in accordance with current trends
needs further development and additions. The authors in their works show that the
specificity of political relations between Ukraine and neighboring countries affects the
configuration and activity in economic cooperation, but does not offer sufficiently
substantiated scientific decisions, the prerequisites on the basis of which an updated
model of interaction with neighboring partner countries of Ukraine should be
implemented under the influence of current political and economic trends.
The purpose of the article is to study the problems and determine the
preconditions for the development of interregional economic cooperation between
Ukraine and neighboring countries in the context of current political and economic
trends.
Research results. The nature of Ukraine's economic development is largely
determined by its specialization in those activities for which the country has the best
conditions. This was reflected in the theory of the specialization of regions and
interregional trade, which is based on the theory of absolute advantages of A. Smith
and the theory of comparative advantages of D. Ricardo. Indeed, for the country's
specialization, it is important not only to have the best natural and socio-economic
preconditions for the production of goods, but also to ensure a substantial difference in
production costs. In this context, the formation of effective relations between countries
is an objective process that provides additional opportunities for the effective
